The story
On the Kano plains, near Nam Lolwe, the Luo tell of a warrior named Lwanda Magere.
His body was not flesh, but stone. Spears and arrows broke against his skin.
When the Jolang'o raided Luo villages, Lwanda Magere drove them back, alone.
Unable to defeat him, the Lang'o sent a beautiful young woman to be his wife, as a sign of peace.
When he fell sick, she nursed him. He told her his secret: his life was in his shadow.
She returned to her people. At sunset, a Lang'o warrior speared Lwanda's long shadow.
The great warrior fell, and turned to stone. His rock still stands at Sidho, in Kisumu County.
